In late 1985, three friends, all Mercedes model collectors, and Daimler-Benz employees, were discussing the upcoming festivities celebrating "One Hundred Years of the Automobile", due to take place in early 1986. For details of the history please refer to MBMC Chronicles.
It was then they realized the lack of and need for a Mercedes model car enthousiasts club. So on February 2, 1986, the "Mercedes-Benz Modellauto-Club" (MBMC), was registered.
The Daimler-Benz AG Corporation, having encouraged the creation of the club, soon became a member of the MBMC, and officially recognized the club as the umbrella organization of all Mercedes-Benz model car clubs and branches worldwide.
Aims and Purposes of MBMC
Originally, the purpose of the MBMC was limited to the exchange of news and informations about Mercedes models.
Nowadays, the MBMC aims to:
provide assistance and support to the collectors of Mercedes-Benz models of all scales,
provide the members of the club with news and information related to new and old Mercedes-Benz models, as well as Maybach and "Smart" models, and the background and history of their full sized counterparts.
organize and take part in exhibitions of Mercedes-Benz model cars, and in swap-meets.
MBMC - The people
Since the inception of the Club, around 600 collectors from all over the world have become members of the Mercedes-Benz Modellauto-Club. From Russia to Sri Lanka, from Greece to Belgium, there are as many passions as there are members in the Club, and some are really worth a closer look.
